A group of us met this week for our Pathways & Perspectives Wellness Workshop at Jewels, Bedford Square, Houghton Regis, Tuesday 18th June,  3pm until 4pm.  We enjoyed a cuppa and a chat, and discussed our experiences of frustrating events and how to cope when we feel angry about something that has ‘wound us up’.   People were very friendly and open about their experiences, and I found it really interesting because we all had such a different take on what ‘pushes our buttons’.

I shared that something that really annoys me is making a mistake, like missing an exit on a motorway, when I need to be somewhere by a particular time – this happened to me last week!    What was great was that we all had some helpful ideas about ways to calm down during frustrating situations, and we spent some time discussing our different strategies.

If you would like to see the worksheet we used, you can find it here.

We are a really friendly bunch of people, and the session is informal and fun.   Next time our session is on Tuesday, 16th July, and is completely free of charge, and run by qualified counsellors; we plan to talk further about coping when something frustrates us as well as experimenting with aromatherapy products to see which fragrances we find most calming.

I work by providing a safe, confidential space where people can bring their feelings and thoughts and work at their own pace. My aim is to be supportive and compassionate while helping people see aspects of their situation they haven't already considered. I aim to adapt my approach to every unique individual's particular wishes, needs and circumstances. For example, I offer the opportunity to work creatively and/or look at past experiences or how someone thinks and feels in 'the here and now'.
